Roy Artal, M.D. is a multi board-certified specialist in internal medicine, sleep medicine and pulmonary diseases.
Raised in Southern California, Dr. Artal obtained his Bachelor's degree in Psychobiology from the University of Southern California, where he was the recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa Undergraduate Achievement Award. He subsequently attended medical school across town at the University of California Los Angeles, obtaining his medical degree in 1995, then completed his Internal Medicine Residency training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Cedars-Sinai-UCLA Combined Fellowship Program, serving as the Chief Fellow during his senior year in the program. Dr. Artal has been in private practice in Southern California since 2001.
Dr. Artal’s clinical practice encompasses disease of the respiratory tract, disorders of sleep and general internal medicine. He has both a personal and professional interest on the effects of nutrition on health and illness, and is a strong advocate of plant based nutrition in preventing and reversing many of the chronic illnesses that plague our society.
Double board certified in Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Artal is also board certified in Pulmonary Medicine and Internal Medicine. He is a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, the Medical Director of Tower Sleep Medicine an American Academy of Sleep Medicine accredited sleep disorders center, a member of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Women's Guild Lung Institute Center of Excellence, and is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.
